Allana Goldsmith

Allana Goldsmith’s unique approach to music is highlighted by her original voice and songs sung in te reo Māori.

It is tempting to think of songs sung in te reo Māori as being different or apart from European traditions, but she maintains the integrity of both.

Allana began her set at the Creative Jazz Club showcase with a brilliant rendition of Miles Davis’ In a Silent Way, using it as a karakia / blessing, and unifying the audience.

She has released five singles – Matariki, He Rā ki Tua, Iri Ngakau, Whakaari and Hīkoi Tātou.

Allana has featured at many major festivals including the Waiheke International Festival (2017), the Tauranga and Queenstown Jazz Festivals, and the Wellington and Auckland Matariki Festivals.

Allana hails from Te Tairawhiti, Ngāti Porou and Ngai Tai ki Torere.

She’s been singing jazz for more than 10 years and includes soul and post-modern jukebox.
