Ijebu Pleasure Club

Ijebu Pleasure Club’s premise is a story which begins in 1986 Nigeria, where a small-town afro beat band have been told they need to play top 40 hits to keep their nightclub gig. They don't own any of the records, but they'll give it a go.

Mashing up music you’ll remember with the Nigerian funk style of Fela Kuti, the band will get you up and ‘shaking it’.

Singer Nuel Nonso Nwachukwu, fresh from Nigeria, and 10 funk, soul and jazz musicians who have collectively played, toured and recorded with the likes of Homebrew, Hollie Smith, Katchafire, The Hot Grits, Solaa, Kolab, dDub, and the Ngaruawahia High School Big Band.

With a five-piece horn section, and tight grooving rhythms, this ensemble packs a punch!
